Exploring the Future of Mass Spectrometry at ASMS San Diego 2026
The LabSense team, together with the Shimadzu Croatia team, attended the American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) Conference in San Diego.
Over the first two days, we explored the latest advances in mass spectrometry. Mass spectrometry continues to play a crucial role in pharmaceutical development, quality control, impurity profiling, biomarker discovery, and the detection of trace-level contaminants. Its ability to identify and quantify compounds at extremely low concentrations makes it an indispensable tool for modern analytical laboratories.
Nitrosamines in Focus
One of the key themes at ASMS 2026 was the growing focus on highly sensitive methods for the detection of nitrosamines and other genotoxic impurities, reflecting the increasing regulatory expectations across the pharmaceutical industry.
At LabSense, nitrosamine analysis is already performed using advanced LC-MS/MS techniques. During ASMS 2026, we were especially interested in the latest developments surrounding the new Shimadzu GCMS-TQ8050 RX triple quadrupole GC-MS/MS system. The platform offers exceptional sensitivity and robustness for volatile and semi-volatile compounds, making it a powerful solution for nitrosamine determination, residual solvent analysis, extractables and leachables studies, and other trace-level impurity testing.
We look forward to bringing new analytical insights and technologies back to our laboratory.
